Mail merge with link to Excel truncates value displayed in next re

Ever since I installed SP3 onto my Office 2003 my Word based mail merge jobs
truncate the value displayed within Word's "Go To Record" field after 99. For
example, if I enter 122 in this field, and press enter, Word correctly pulls
the merge data for the 122nd record from the appropriate Excel spreedsheet,
and Word correctly displays the merged Document, but the value displayed in
Word's "Go to Record" field is only 12 rather than 122. How can I "report"
this Office SP3 bug to Microsoft?

If you're referring to the Record box on the Mail Merge toolbar, you can
enlarge this to display more digits. Open Tools | Customize and just drag
the box bigger.

I'm refering to the "Go to Record" box on the Mail Merge toolbar, at least
that is the name displayed by Word 2003 when I "hover" my cursor on that box.

While this box appeared wide enough to me (prior to my initial post) to
display values up to 9999, I did widen it further following your suggestion.
This box now appears wide enough to key in and display values up to seven
digits wide, say 1234567. Still no joy. For example, if I enter 123, Word
correctly displays a document merged with excel record 123
(one-hundred-twenty-three), but only 12 is displayed in the "Go to Record"
box on Word's Mail Merge toolbar.

If that's the case, then I have no further suggestions to offer. This sounds
a lot like the bug by which centered and right-aligned captions disappear in
the Insert | Reference | Caption dialog.

this is happening to me too. I can't tell which document I am merging in, it
could be one of 10 because the last digit is missing. Why is this happening
and what can be done to fix it?

This(Mail Merge Record(on Toolbar) truncates least significant digit) has
recently started happening on my machine(s). I have a simple Excel List of
about 400 entries. I have confirmed that the mail merge correctly merges all
records. I have increased the size of Mail Merge Go To Record on the Mail
Merge Toolbar, but the LSD still does not display correctly.

I have at least two machines experiencing the same problem.

It does not appear that there is a solution to this problem. I am still
experiencing it, and I have not found any fix for it. Does anyone have any
suggestions? This is getting frustrating because I do a lot of mail merge
with a lot of records, and I can't ttell which record I am working with by
the number (except that I am within 10 digits).

Regarding the display problem of record no over 100 in mail merge, I
think it is a known problem of the Microsoft word in Office 2003 SP3.
It does affect the daily operations of our office.

Grateful if anyone have the workaround for the error could share.

BTW, anyone knows the channal to officially report the problem to the
manufacturer, Microsoft. I think it is her responsibility to provide
a patch to fix the problem or at least make known to the clients who
paid for the product. I am talking about the after-sale services.

TIA.
