Mail Merge with Outlook drops Name Suffix

I'm using Word 2002 with Windows XP. I've inserted an <<AddressBlock>>
in a letter Template linked to the Contacts list of Outlook. The name
and address import just fine, but the name suffix does not get pasted
in. I've chosen the name format properly - John Q. Smith Jr. and
checked the box to include the name in the AddressBlock. The recipient
contact file seems OK; the Full Name includes the suffix, in this case
M.D., but I have to type it in the suffix field. When I check All
Fields - Names, the suffix M.D. shows up the recipient selected. So,
why doesn't the suffix get attached with the name in the AddressBlock
in my Template and how can I fix it?

Hi Rbotte,

In my personal opinion, the Address Block functions so poorly that it's
not worth the effort MS put into it. They'd have done better to make a
non-modal Insert Fields box and user friendly interface for creating IF
fields...

IOW, you can't fix it, so just don't use it. Insert the merge fields
one-by-one.
