Mail merge Works 8.5 database to word document 2003

I am trying to merge a database that was created in Works into a Word 2003
document everything is fine until i try to insert the database and then i get
the box about choosing how to encode so it will be readable. Nothing works
and I get is little boxes. What can I do. Thanks
