Mail merge zips - Word 2002

Using an Excel file to do mailing labels. The zip code
field in Excel is formatted for 5-digit zip. After
merging to mail merge, the labels drop the leading zero
in the zip code. Suggestions?

It's kinda amazing that I just spent 45 minutes looking
through the Help that comes with Word and Office and
could not find any reference to any of this. Then I spent
another 15 minutes going through the MS "Assistance
Center" and found nothing about any of this. It was only
in this newsgroup that I found a link to the answer. What
is equally amazing that the millions and millons of users
of this software haven't had the same problem and forced
MS to change the Help or fix the software.

My next problem is the fact that the template for the
Avery 5160 prints the fields too close to the edge of the
lable. I've resolved that with a custom label layout. But
I had the same problem with Word 2000.

Ain't technology grand!
