Mail not getting associated with categories

In my Address book, nearly 90% of the entries are associated with a
category. I have a faint memory that previously when I sent e-mail, my
outgoing message would be associated with the addressee's category
(assuming there was one).

For some reason, I have noticed that none of my outgoing mail is being
associated with any category.

Could this be a result of a recent Apple Security Update? If not, is
there a setting I've missed? I've looked and looked and can't find
anything. Under General/Address Book I have all 3 items checked at the
bottom.

Hi,

as far as I know, there is no preference to set this. You can set your
preferences to categorise incoming messages, and to link your messages, both
incoming and outgoing, to contacts. Also, when you reply to a categorised
message, your reply will automatically be in the same category as the
original message.

To get what you want, I'd recommend the use of outgoing rules. Under
Tools>Rules, Outgoing tab, create a rule like this one

If "Any Recipient" "is in category" "[x]"
Then "Set category" "[x]"

for each category, and it should work as expected.

Hi,

None of my incoming mail on my POP accounts are being associated with the
categories from my Address Book. On the other hand, incoming mail IS being
associated on my IMAP (.Mac) account.

Would doing a "compact mailbox" have anything to do with this? I did notice
that after I did the "compact", the window titles (i.e., Project Center,
Mail, etc.) began to include "€Main Identity" when that WASN'T there before.

Ideas?
