I have a client who's laptop has a fresh install of Windows XP Pro and
Office 2007. He has what seems like a strange problem to me. He says that
when he is home he can send and receive email in Outlook perfectly, but when
he is on the road he can only receive email....when he tried to send email
it just stays in his outbox. It is a new laptop and I am the one that
installed all the software on it, he has no firewall or other security
software that might interfere other than the Windows default firewall and
AVG Antivirus.

I do not have the laptop here in the office yet as he just called me asking
about the problem and he is out of the state right now but will be returning
soon. I thought I would ask if anyone else had experienced this. It is
fully updated (both Windows and Office) and I have never heard of anything
like this.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Typical. Unless you properly authenticate to the outgoing server or use the
SMTP server of the ISP to which you connect, this is what will happen.
