Mail Rules

One extremely useful thing Outlook lacks that OE has is a mail rule for
"leave on the server". Is there an add in which adds this facility? I have
a complicated workaround for the situation that requires the rule - but that
one simple command would make life much easier for me.

No, Outlook does not have such a rule. All Outlook rules are applied only
*after* the message has been downloaded from the server. And that, by the
way, is why an Outlook add-in can't add this functionality, at least not to
the Rules Wizard.

I wondered if that was the case, I've looked long and hard at the rule
system and couldn't find a way to do it. Have you any idea if I can do
it with one of the programs that scans the mail before download and,
if so, which one? I have seen a few of them about the various file
servers, but I don't want to keep adding them to the system to find
out the hard way if any of them will work with Outlook?

Most programs will say whether they work with all POP mail clients.
