Mail sits in outbox without sending with no error message

If I try to send an email using contacts from the address book or attach a
contact from address book. The email just sits in my outbox without sending.
If I type in the address manually or don't attach anything everything seems
to work ok. I don't get any error messages. It just sits there.

I had the same problem and found out it was related to the Display Name
being formated wrong when I transfered the contact list. The solution is to:

Open the contact in the Contact List
Highlight the Display Name
Delete the Display Name
Save the contact (a new Display Name in the correct format will be created)

The next time you send an email to the contact is should be sent immediately.

Only thing is I only know how to do this for each contact and not the whole
Contact List so it will take some time to update all my contacts.
