mail stuck in outbox. why?

I'm using the latest version of Outlook with all service packs. I often get
mail stuck in my outbox indefinitely. When i close Outlook and re-open it,
then the mail sends fine. Seems like a bug. Anyone know a fix?

That's not the problem. These messages that are stuck don't have
attachments and I'm not trying to delete them.

I am having the same problem with one user! For others email works, for him
it doesn't work at all. His emails just sit in the Outbox, and I am at a
loss figureing out how to troubleshoot this.

To add more info:

My problem is intermittent and definitely not a connectivity issue or email
server issue. Once it starts, mail will stick forever until closing outlook
and re-opening it (which further supports it is not an email server problem,
etc.)

Sorry the Microsoft article doesn't seem relevant.
However, if you have a third party virus scanner, have you tried disabling
scanning incoming and outgoing emails? And have you also tried recreating
your Outlook profile?
