Mail Stuck in Outbox

Using Outlook 97, shortly after starting application, get a Program Error box stating "MAPISP32.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created." Cant send or receive messages. Have one item stuck in outbox. When attempting to open this item, get alert "Can't open this item. The MAPI spooler has already begun transmitting this message." Any suggestions?

Go out, play some pool, come back later, and hope the problem has corrected itself.

Create a profile (use the Control Panel > Mail applet) that only has a
Personal Folder service in it that accesses your normal PST file. Give it a
name like "No Transports". Then startup Outlook with that profile using a
command line like this:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Outlook.EXE" /profile "No
Transports"

Outlook should spit the message up as undeliverable. Quit & restart Outlook
normally after this.
