Mail views folder

I have recently started using Entourage and would appreciate some guidance on
the following.

In my "mail views" folder there is a sub folder called "unread". This folder
contains numerous postings from M/S. public.office.mac.entourage and is added
to daily. I don't think I am subscribed to this group and would like to do
the following.

Delete contents of this folder and make sure I don't receive more postings
in the future.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Custom Views (including Mail Views) aren't actually folders; instead, they
juts display items in your Entourage database that meet whatever criteria
are programmed.

The messages that you're referrring to are probably from the
microsoft.public.office.mac.entourage group under the "Microsoft News
Server" in the Folder List. I don't know why you would be automatically
receiving posts from that group, especially since this group
(microsoft.public.mac.office.entourage) is now the official Entourage
support newsgroup. If you really don't use Entourage to read newsgroups,
you can delete the news servers in Tools > Accounts under the "News" tab.

You can edit the "Unread" Custom View by Control-clicking it and then
clicking "Edit Custom View" in the contextual menu that appears. Under
"Criteria", make it sure it is set to match "if all criteria are met".

To exclude messages from that newsgroup, add this criterion:
Specific Header Newsgroups Does Not Contain
microsoft.public.office.mac.entourage

To exclude all newsgroup messages, add criteria called
News Account is not <the news account> for all news accounts in the list.

Here is some more information about custom views:
