We are using Outlook 2003 and Windows XP, SP3.
Our e-mail accounts are set up under multiple users as a means of monitoring
the e-mail that comes and goes to young users.
What I am experiencing is that mail will send and receive without a problem
under User #1 but for some reason, the very same settings under User#2 will
receive but not send.
This was an intermittent problem that User#2 was fixing by re-starting the
computer. It seemed to be that if User#1 was logged on already, there would
be email problems for User#2 that would disappear with a re-start.
Given that the settings do work under one user, I am assuming that the
problem is here on my machine and not on the server end.
Creating a new e-mail account under User#2 with the same settings worked for
two days and now offers the same error in that it is unable to send.
I have created new user accounts and tried the settings there with the same
result.
User#1 was the original user set up. The users in question are
administrator accounts.
