Word 200
Nominally Word's default is to suppresss blank fields but I have to acknowledge that the field is blank MANY clicks before Word finally accepts that I'm not asleep

I can't find anything in the "fix" list of SP1 or 2 that says this issue is resolved or even exists. Has anybody found that 1/2 fixes the problem

BTW, I found that articles that tell me how to restore the old merge dialog box that specifically asks how handle blank lines. I've done that, no change in behavior.

Not sure if your posrt relates to a previous message, but in 2002/2003 the
default is still to suppress blank fields. Unfortunately, the behaviour has
changed in at least one other important way, which is that blank fields
nested inside other fields (e.g. an IF field) are /not/ suppressed
regardless of the blank line setting. If your fields are not nested in this
way it may be worth checking that the data coming into Word is completely
blank, e.g. does not even contain a space character - changes to the way
Word gets its data may have an impact on this.
