mailmerge and protected documents

The templetes provided from office are protected and do
not allow for mail merging (i.e. professional fax
templete. These templetes use check boxes. They need to
be protected to make them work properly. I am trying to
set up my own templete and i like the check boxes. Can I
have both features in a document without having to
constantly protect and un protect the document. In
excel, you can protect only protions of the worksheet.
If this can not be done , i'll give up trying to use both
features. I asked a simular question a couple of days
ago but the response did not answer if this can be done.
I want to use my data source to mail merge into fax forms
and transmittal forms. The only problem is both use
check boxes. Once I set the templete up, I want to share
it with other people in my office who would be lost if I
told them that they had to protect and unprotect the
document. I have office XP.

Hi Glenn,

The Professional Fax template is not protected. Nor does it need to be
protected to make the check boxes work. You just have to double click on
them.

Please post any further questions or followup to the newsgroups for the
benefit of others who may be interested. Unsolicited questions forwarded
directly to me will only be answered on a paid consulting basis.

Hope this helps
