mailmerge, data format

We're running a mailmerge from Excel into a Word document that is a Statement
reporting activity to licensors. This includes a column with a couple of
rows of amounts payable, followed by a total. We've formatted the mailmerge
field with "\# ##,##0.00", but the data in the column does not align
perfectly. Is there a way to ensure that it presents with all the numbers
and decimals aligned?

Have you tried using a decimal tab and a tab space before the mergefield?

Thanks, this was helpful in at least partially tidying up the appearance.
I'm still finding that if the amounts are of different magnitude, they don't
line up well: e.g. $1,500.00 extends further than $0.00

Maybe you need to adjust the position of the tab

The tab seems to be positioned correctly. The solution that I ultimately
used was to run the mailmerge (having incorporated your suggestion of the
decimal tabs) and then edit the individual statements manually to line up the
numbers correctly. It was OK for this particular exercise, but I would like
to work out a more automated solution in the long run. I suspect that Access
may offer me a better answer, but I am not familiar enough with it yet.

Thanks for the advice.
