Mailmerge text field returns time.

I created a mailmerge that has date and text fields. The mail merge works
correctly except for one text field which returns 12:00:00 AM. Any ideas on
how to force the mergefield to pass the text data correctly.

Hi dutchtreet,

What is your data source (eg Excel/Access)? What sort of data are in the problem field? How are those data formatted? Does the
problem affect all records, or only some (eg empty records)? How do you want the data displayed?

Hi all,
just experienced a comparable problem.
Excel = data source for mailmerge to word (Office 2003/Win2000pro). Multi
language environment (Fr/Dutch/E).
On one pc mailmerge worked fine without problems! On different other pc's
the "12:00:00 AM" showed (in a merged word document) for some (not all !)
text fields (from source in excel).

My solution was to
1. create a new empty excel workbook on a concerned 'problem' pc.
2. Next I imported the external data (=data menu item) from the original
excel workbook (You loose formatting & styles).
3. Renamed the workbooks ('original' to 'old' & 'new' to 'original') for the
file names to correspond to the original one.
4. Opened the word merge template (or document).
5. Reconnected the data source (new excel) from the word template.
Merge-textfield then showed correct values in the word merge result just as
it showed in the excel sheet of the original workbook. Thus where the
"12:00:00 AM" appeared previously as result in the merged document.

Hope this may be of any help to someone. Bye.
