MailMerge with Excel AlphaNumeric data

When merging Word document with data in an Excel file,
any field (Column) that contains a number (Numeric) in
some records (Rows) and has a text (AlphaNumeric) in
other records, those records which have the AlphaNumeric
data will not merge in the document, Word will print a O
(ZERO) instead of the merge data !??!

Hi New,

Doug's answer is correct, as far as it goes. The problem is
that most people try to use the Format/Cell command to
format as text, usually without much success. You need to
select the column, then use Data/Text to columns to format
the column explicitly as text at the database level.
