Mailmerge: word read data document(excel), although present

Hello,
I have mail merge document to it a dat document of excel
is attached. This excel document is a large one with >200
field heading. This setting was working fine till
yesterday, the word document is not reading the data
document. The excel document is still present & I can edit
it. I have tried changing the name of excel docuemtn- no
effect. Reducing the size no effect. I make a new word
document & a new excel document- this works. can some body
help as this is a research project, which has to be
submitted

First, we need to know which version of Word/Excel you have.

Then, please describe in more detail HOW it's not working.
Are you getting error messages? If so, what's the exact text?
