I work for a YMCA and our memberships are on a Y-Ware Dos
program. I have done a querry and extracted all of the
members names and addresses from the program into excel.
I am now in word trying to merge the names and addresses
to run labels for a mailing. When I go to merge the names
from excel to word it is telling me: Microsoft word could
not establish a DDE Conection to Excel. What is a DDE
connection? I have done this process before but have
never run into this problem. Please help?

Hi,

Try this!

Open your mail-merge document.
Go to:
Tools/Options/GeneralTab
Be sure "Confirm at Open" is checked.

Select DDE from confirm list when it comes up.
The the greatest explanation, but.

Good Luck,

Mr K

If Mr. K's suggestion doesn't help (I don't expect it to, but
you never know...) Please tell us with which version of Word
you're working.

Word needs to connect to the data source; DDE is one way of
doing so. There are others, but in order to tell you how to
go about doing it, we need to know the version involved.
