Maintain date/times in mail archives?

B

Bill Weylock

I have searched the existing threads and can¹t find the answer to this
question. It¹s not discussed on the mvp Entourage archiving page either. Of
course I¹m sure it¹s been asked 40 times, but ...

I have a very large identity database and want to shrink it without losing
data. So I figured I would make som mbox archives by dragging folders to the
desktop.

Just to experiment, I dragged one back into Entourage. I really wanted to
see what would happen to attachments. Still wondering about that one since I
keep attachments in my emails. I assume it¹s an alias to the attachments
folder...

But that turned out to be a sidebar. I discovered that all of the date/times
had changed to right now.

Is that the expected result? Mbox archives do not maintain ³date received²
info??

Is my only recourse to save an identity if I want to keep date info?

Please advise or send me to a link that will open my eyes? Thanks in
advance!

Bill

That's the result of imported emails.

Use Date Sent instead.

Date sent is what I was using. It and Date Received both give the same
result (all messages have same date).

This effectively makes the file glorified garbage.

Is there any good solution out there or any good workaround?

Since my database is so large, I can¹t even test the .rge export. Can you
tell me if that retains date/time information?

Thanks.

Date Sent is based on the "Date" header in the message and should be working
fine. Double-check to make sure that you have the column selected in your
View menu, and if it's still not showing rebuild your database.
