maintain Word formatting in email

M

Mike S.

I am trying to create a document in word to be sent to my customers via
email. When I paste or drag the document to my email I lose all formatting
and line spacing.
How can I create a nice looking document and have it look that way in the
email?

Attach it - don't put it in the body of the email.

One thing about pasting Word docs into emails that always
annoys me is the way OE interprets Word's end-of-paragraph
marker as a double carriage return in plain-text mode.

If you want OE to at least try and preserve Word's
formatting, you need to have HTML formatting turned on:

Tools > Options > Send > Mail Sending Format > [x] HTML

This of course exposes your readers to the risks of HTML and
you to complaints from them.

Use File->Send to->Mail Recipient. This will send the original mail without
any formatting changes.

This, of course, presupposes that you are using Outlook, not Outlook
Express, as your mail client.
