Major 2003 Problems

J

John Smith

I had Outlook XP running great. Now I upgraded to 2003 and have had nothing
but problems. For one thing, the program CONSTANTLY freezes up on me. I
always get "Not Responding". When I shut down outlook, the icon stays in
the tray next to the time - when I click on it it tells me there is a
problem and then something about Exchange Server. I am on a standalone
system - and it seems to think I'm on a network. I have to reboot the
system every time. Even when I get the "Not Responding" - and I
Ctrl-Alt-Del and shut down Outlook, I have to reboot or else the program
just keeps freezing on me.

I had run my Beta program on another system of mine, and every time I close
that program I get the error box coming up telling me that outlook shutdown
incorrectly. I really hate to have to uninstall 2003 and re-install XP -
especially since I shelled out so much for this program!

Anybody have a clue what's wrong? Did I explain it correctly?

Thanks!

Do you have WinFax installed (or any 3rd party apps that tie to Outlook
data - e.g. ActiveSync, Antivirus products that protect POP3 mail)? The
reason that I ask is that WinFax causes all kinds of issues. ActiveSync
needs to be upgraded to 3.7.1 and still has issues when leaving your PDA in
the cradle at the time Outlook shuts down. I won't even tell you what
McAfee can do to a perfectly healthy MS Outlook.

Besides that also check your Mail Profile in Control Panel-> Mail-> button
Show Profiles to see whether Exchange Server is listed there. If this is the
case you'll need to remove this (or create a new profile).

Welp - It was the Winfax - I found on their website that it's a problem with
compatability. I have been using winfax for the last 10 years - it's my
left arm with the laptop - what fax software will work with Outlook 2003???
Also - Will Norton AntiVirus 2004 be ok???

Norton AntiVirus 2004 works just fine with Outlook 2003.
