major bugs in printing or exporting to PDF

This problem is both on my computer using tiger and leopard. I have a large document I am trying to export as PDF to bring to a friend. it turns a 250 page document into a 370 page one, by plopping in part of my first chapter as a header in the whole first section! Not only that, but then it tries to apply these changes to my actual document itself! good thing I said "no" to "save changes" when closing.

I don't recall having this problem the last time i did this. Is this something that has to do with new updates to Word or Mac OS? Or does it have something to do with the section and page breaks i have in my doc? i was under the impression that this might lead to PDF breakages in export, but not complete mess with my word doc! please help! this is a horrible bug!

You have at least one bad section break in your document -- delete it and
add a new one of you need it.

Your headers and footers are stored in the section break FOLLOWING the text
they refer to, so make sure you kill the correct break.

Yes, the Section Break is the master property store for the document: nearly
everything other than the "text strings" is stored in the section break, so
if one goes bad, it's capable of causing just about all the trouble there is
:)

Hope this helps
