Major Database Woes

I'm new to this forum, and I searched and searched but couldn't fin
this particular database problem anywhere, so I'm sorry if I'
repeating a problem-

I'm now aware that my Entourage db is too big, now that it's too lat
and I can't open the app. Wondering if all is lost - couldn't do
typical rebuild so did an advanced rebuild, but still can't open.
Trying to do a typical now but get the message: "Compacting Failed. A
error as occurred. (-116)."

Any thoughts? Any one who can help me?!?

Which version of Entourage do you use? As a general piece of advice: make
sure you have applied all the latest updates to Office. This is especially
true for Entourage v.X, since one of the updates doubled the database size
limit from 2GB to 4GB. When you've applied the updates (10.1.8 for Office
v.X, 11.3 for Office 2004), try rebuilding the database again and see if it
works now.
