Major errors after installling Office 2007

I have had office 2003 professional edition for a few years. I recently
tried to update to Office Enterprise 2007 and since then I have had no end of
probs. Everytime I try to use any of the programs I get a windows installer
popping up telling me it can't locate the source file. I have tried system
restore (since been advised that won't work as you can't get rid of all
aspects of 2007). I have successfully uninstalled office 2007, but cannot
remove or repair 2003. I have Windows XP operating system.

Can anyone PLEEEASE help?

Office Enterprise is not for Updating. You need to install that version of (Enterprise) alone. Did you use the install to overwrite your previous Office install????

Hi Peter,

When I started the install it gave me the option of "Upgrade" or "Custom"
and I just selected upgrade (May have been update). I have another problem
with the machine and I ran a system restore thinking I could just reinstall
Office 2007 when I had fixed the other issue, but now I can't get anything to
work properly. If I reinstall 2007, I can use most features, but not all.

I would really like to be able to remove them both cleanly and start fresh.
If you could help I would be REEAALLYYY grateful, this is driving me mad!

Like I said Office 2007 Enterprise needs to be installed by itself. Do you have the Office 2003 install media ? You need that to remove Office 2003. Once removed then install the Office 2007 Enterprise version.

Where did you procure the Office 2007 Enterprise from??

Hi Peter,

I do have the Office 2003 Media, however I can't get it to read from the
disc, it keeps opening a Windows Installer pop up wanting "MAINSP2op.msp"
file. I cannot repair or remove 2003.

I purchased both copies of Office through the Home Use Program.

My end goal is to remove Office 2003 cleanly, so that I can then re-install
Office 2007 and have it work correctly.

It has been suggested that I should try and remove the updates for office
(through "Add/Remove"), which I will try tonight when I get home, but if you
have any idea's on how to force the removal of Office 2003, that would be
great.

Hi Peter,

Windows Installer Cleanup Utility worked a treat! It allowed me to remove
Office 2003 and I have succesfully installed Office 2007 and it is working
fine. I have found one minor issue with my Nokia PC suite not working, so I
reloaded the Nokia software and have had no further problems!
