Major Frontpage Error

P

Paul T.

I try to connect to my server with extentions and this error comes up.

"The server couldn't log you on, because you are connecting through a proxy
server, but the server's authentication scheme(s), do not work across a
proxy. Try adding the serer to the Exceptions box in the Proxy Settings
dialog, or request the server administrator to enable another authentication
scheme."

I have spent close to 6 hrs on this problem. I need help because i need to
update my websites now.

All answers are welcome.

Sometimes a result of the firewall you have installed on your computer. Try
configuring it, or briefly disable it to see if you can connect.

Call your ISP. Or if on a small business network, get the IT guys involved.

FrontPage does not tolerate the rebroadcasting of an authenticated session
(which is exactly what a proxy server is designed to do).

You need to get that device configured to not just "allow" but to "bypass"
or not touch the data between you and your web server.

Someone stuck something new on your network which is causing this. If you
really need an update done soon and can't get results from your ISP or IT
guys, you'll have to connect to the internet via some other means (a
different provider) to edit in the mean time.
