Major MS Publisher problem for me

I have MS Publisher 2000 on an XP machine. Everytime I
attempt to open Publisher for instance to create a
business card I get (unsaved publication) MSPUB.EXE -
Application Error The instruction at 0x77f83aed"
referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not
be written. Click on ok to terminate program.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program but it has
not helped at all.

Any suggestions?

The articles I have read on this error point to a
corrupt or outdated printer driver. If you uninstall
all printer drivers and download and install a clean
current driver from the website of your printer mfg.
it should solve the problem.
