make autocorrect in microsoft word a more "intelligent" program

First, I have to clarify that I use Microsoft Office 2000. My suggestion is
regarding the autocorrect feature in Microsoft Word. Right now, there is a
way to add words so that, in the future, MS Word will autocorrect misspelling
and typos. However, it would be really, really great if MS Word can "learn"
to auto-add words/correction based on frequent patterns of misspelled words
and corrections made. In other words, if I frequently type "presense" instead
of "presence" and correct it, it would be helpful if MS Word could keep track
of this mistake/correction pattern and auto-add it to the autocorrect list
after, say, 5+ times of the same mistake/correction.

Of course, I don't know if this is already a feature in Word 2003?

WordJunkie: I would think that to be able to track such a think, Word would
have to track every single "correction" you make...which would create a
humongous database, at least if it's counting MY corrections! It's just an
unreasonable thing to hope for, methinks.

Anne Troy, you're right. How about if it tracks corrections for one typing
session? Or any other suggestions as to how this might be possible? Thanks
for considering!

Why don't you dispense with the "frequently" condition above an create
the autocorrect entry the first time you create it?

When you right-click any word that has the red-squiggly underline indicating
that the spelling checker doesn't recognize it, one of the items on the
context menu is "AutoCorrect". Click that item and choose one of the
suggested correct spellings. In addition to correcting the current instance,
Word will add the AutoCorrect entry and you'll never be bothered again.

I suppose Word has got so much more intuitive, I was hoping it would get even
better. I frequently add words to autocorrect in the manner suggested above,
but I type over 50 pages a day of academic, creative and other texts, so this
process gets a bit cumbersome, particularly because word doesn't recognize
half the words I type and I end up adding and adding, correcting and adding
that. Plus, I make the frequent "addt oi t" instead of "add to it" or "form"
instead of "from" and it would be amazing if autocorrect could autocorrect
based on the grammatical context. However, I understand the complication in
this, since you don't want autocorrect to over-correct and annoy people that
way...

Thank you for the response, though. I appreciate it.
