Make booklet with Booklightning

E

efb

I'm using Booklightning to make booklets, which I've done before. This time
I have the pages all done in 5-1/2 x 8-1/2, and saved as pdf. It separates
into odd and even pages perfectly. Then when I print them out the right hand
pages have the left margins too narrow, and the right margins too wide.
PLEASE help if you can. I've completely baffled. Thanks in advance.

Hello -

This question/program has nothing to do with MS Word, nor is it even a MS
product. Although you *might* get lucky enough to find a reply here it is
far more probable that you will get the information you need from the people
who supply the program. Although their web site doesn't offer a Support page
or FAQ, they do have a Contact page that includes an email address.

I would imagine that there is some sort of allowance for inside margins to
permit binding, but whether it is an adjustable setting in the program, an
arbitrary imposition by the program, or if the program simply uses margin
settings from the original PDF I have no idea.

Sorry - the fact that you are using Word to create the doc *before* saving
as PDF was totally absent from your first post.

If the problem is originating in the Word doc it would be controlled through
Page Setup. Make sure that your left & right margins are set to be the same
(or as you want them) - if you are using the Mirror Margins option they will
read as inside & outside, and you may want to insure that the Gutter is set
appropriately.

How does the doc look in Word's Print Preview and print? If okay there, Word
is not the source of your problem.

If you open the PDF in Apple's Preview, Acrobat Reader or some other
PDF-compatible program, how does it look & print?

If all is good there we're back to the points made in my previous reply...
Booklightning must be making some sort of adjustment to the margins for
booklet format.

on word in setting up the document there is an item called "Gutter". A
Gutter is just an extra allowance on the left hand side of pages say to
allow you to use a three hole punch and still have proper margin on that
side. If that has been set its typically .5 inch. That shifts all the
text over an additional 1/2 inch on the right side. That would bean you
would have say a margin of 1-1/2 inch on left side and 1/2 on right side
as opposed to 1 and 1 with no gutter.

See if your program uses a "gutter" setting. If so that will throw
everything off until you set it to zero.
