Make first page's header different??

Hi, I'm Kathy,

I have Word 2008 12.0.0 for Mac. I'm trying to make the first page's header
have different text from the rest of the pages. I just don't see a way to do
this, and the HELP files are very unhelpful when I search for "edit header"
or anything similar. Thanks.

While in the Header put a check in the box for 'Different first page' in the
Header & Footer group of the Formatting Palette. Put your first Page header
content in the First Page Header & put what you want for the remainder of
the document in the Header on the second page.

BTW: Both of those appear in the list of topics when you search Word Help
for the term "edit header". I think you may have been deceived by Apple's
insistence on having Mac Help as the default if you just open the Help menu
in any given program. Instead, make sure to select Word Help form the Help
menu rather than typing your term into the Search box that appears in the
menu itself.

If your copy of Word really is at version 12.0.0, RUN, don't walk, to
download and apply the following updates (in reverse order, from the bottom
up...):

If you don;t apply those updates, your copy of Microsoft Office will fail
more often than it works
