G
General Zaud
I have tried and tried and TRIED to disable the automatic spell check, but
I'm stuck with Microsoft continually insisting that my company's "HSA
Flexible Spending Account" is really a "Has Flexible Spending Account." This
isn't half as bad as all the unix shell scripts I have to refer my co-workers
to -- they get mauled by the automatic spell checker. Please note that I
disabled the function in the Outlook program, but every time I reply to a
message, Microsoft so helpfully turns it back on, just in case I was mistaken
in the illusion that my elementary education taught me how to spell. I found
that if I just disable the automatic spell checker in every new e-mail I
compose, it works okay. However, it re-enables the spell checker with EVERY
new e-mail. This is extremely annoying.
DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY ASSUME I CANNOT SPELL. Automatic spell checking should
not be a default -- people with no lingual skills should be required to
enable these options, not the other way around. Instead, it takes me twice
as long to write e-mails -- I have to write the e-mail and then proofread it
to change all the words that Microsoft so helpfully "fixed" for me. It's
like I'm being punished for having actually paid attention in school.
You're making the case for our migration to Open Office (not Microsoft's
version, either) easier for me EVERY DAY.
