Make Outlook 2007 my default E Mail on my laptop

I cannot get MS Outlook 2007 to work. My new laptop uses MS E-Mail and
Calendar, and will not use Outlook 2007. I'm guessing that somehow I must
disable MS E-Mail and calendar BUT then what?
