Make sure that your copy of Project Pro 2007 is able to...

Robert

Hello,
While I'm trying to "Open" all the resources from the Resource Center of
PWA2007in to Project Pro, I get the message:
"Microsoft Office Project Pro 2007 is needed for that operation. Make sure
that your copy of Project Pro 2007 is able to establish a connection onto
the server... call your Administrator."
Actually, Project Pro is well installed and connected on the server. What
could be the problem?
NB : I have another version : Project Pro 2003 installed on another
partition of the same disk.
Thanks for your help

Robert --

Are you seeing the same problem if you attempt to open a project in Project
Professional 2007 from the Project Center in PWA? If so, one cause for this
error message would be if you use a different URL to access to PWA than you
use in your Project Server login account in Project Professional 2007. Just
a thought. Hope this helps.

Gary,

I tried both : Project 2007 Client closed or open. The result is the same :
"Microsoft Office Project Pro 2007 is needed for that operation..."

Dale,
Yes, I have the same problem if I attempt to open a project in Project
Professional 2007 from the Project Center in PWA.
But my 2 URL are quite similar:
URL for Project Pro:http://dellservermbr/projectserver
URL for the Hom page of PWA:http://dellservermbr/ProjectServer/default.aspx
NB : This issue is quite recent. Some weeks ago everything was working fine.
Any other idea?
Thanks again

Certainly worth trying making these identical: Capitalize the P and S
in the Project Pro URL and see if that changes anything.

James,

I tried that : making these identical: Capitalize the P and S in the Project
Pro URL.
but the problem is the same.
NB : Some weeks ago, this feature worked fine...

Q

Quized again

Robert, one of my Admins is having the exact same issue. Have you found a
solution? We have MSP2007 Pro 12.0.6327.500 installed. I made him inactive
and added him with a new account. He has Admin permissions just as I do. I
can edit the resources and he gets that same message.
Thanks.

Quized again

Solved the issue but do not know why it resolved. I removed his MS Office
Project Server Account (Start>MS Office>Tools>MS Office Proj Server Accnts).
Closed that window and added the account back in but I copied the URL
straight from the PWA page. That did it. I wish I knew why.

Thanks for the feed back QA,
For me, the solution of Gary worked fine : make a repair of the Project Pro
2007.
