making a digital signature in word 2003

Maybe the question is better asked in here, than page layout.

Hi,

Is their a way to insert a (digital) signiture into a document? Possibly by
scanning a signiture, and somehow adding it into a word document or another
one.

Other than as a .bmp, tif or another format?

thanks.

You aren't inserting a digital signature(completely different
technology), but an image of a signature. So no, you can't put an image
into a document in any other form than as an image regardless of format.
An image is an image is an image.

Thanks,

That is what I actually meant after I sent it,
a electronic signiture. It had seemed to me there was
a way to scan a signiture and somehow make a font out of it?
thanks again,
Bruce

Not unless you went to the labor of actually designing/creating a font
that matched the signature letter for letter(never mind the case of
the same two letters of the alphabet may not look the same depending on
where they are in the signature) Then you need to install this custom
font on any PC that you wished to see the "signature font" on. So in a
nutshell, no you can't.

There used to be companies who'd do this for you.

But what's the advantage of having your sig as a font rather than just using an
image?

I can see where it'd be easier to add and format, control position and so on.

Are there other advantages?

In any case, google:

signature to font

One of the "hits" says they'll do it for ten bucks.

naa I just did the scan, and copied a tip, seemed to work out well.
Electronic signitures are legal now, was doing one for the club president.

thanks
