Making a field availably in the Resource Usage Sheet

R

Ris

Hi There,

I'm not sure if this can be done but if it can it will be very useful for us.

I have added a Custom Enterprise Field (Task - Enterprise Number 1) called
Project Number.
It appears as it should in the Enterprise Gant Sheet in Project Pro and I am
able to add the project number to it.

My problem is that I am unable to display this column in the Resource Usge
sheet where I need to export some information from.

The "Project Number" field just doesnt appear in the list of fields to
select from.

Can someone help me out, we are desperate to get this field in both places.

Thanks in advance
Ris

Hi Ris,

Just out of curiosity, why are you trying to reference a task field with
your resource?

You definately will not be able to use that field in the resources as the
name sake states Enterprise Task Field.

I need this reference field for our export into an external Database. And we
use the Resource Usage Sheet to export information from.

Is there any way I can get a field to appear in both the Enterprise Gant
Sheet and the Resource Usage Sheet. Maybe I'm using the incorrect method.

Thanks
Ris

Hi Ris,

I cannot vouch for the effectiveness of the following in an Enterprise
field but you will find some explanation of the differences between task
data and assignment data at FAQ 51 "Data Types: Task, Resource, and
Assignment" at:

http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

FAQ 37 referenced in FAQ 51 also gives some sample VBA code you could
modify to copy data from a task field to an assignment field. Again, I
don't know if this will work for Enterprise fields but you may be able
to change from an enterprise field to a task number field as a work
around.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

RIS:

You have three types of fields: Project, Task and Resource
You can use task fields in task views, resource fields in resource views.
Enterprise task field values can be viewed at the assignment level, however
they don't carry discrete values at the assignment level.
