Making an "AutoDate" turn static

I am trying to create an "Engineering Design Journal" template. In this template, I would plike to have the date and time show up in the right upper corner, but I need it to stay static, so if I add a journal entry 3 days or even weeks later, the date on all previous entries will reflect the time and date the entry was added.

Hi John

If you use the Insert > Date and Time dialog, you can uncheck the box for
"Update automatically". That will cause the date to be inserted as plain
text instead of a DATE field.

If you've already inserted a field, for example by using the shortcut
Alt+Shift+D, you can either lock the field by selecting it and pressing
Ctrl+F11, or unlink the field by selecting it and pressing Ctrl+Shift+F9.
The difference is that a locked field remains a field, and can be unlocked
by Ctrl+Shift+F11 and updated, but an unlinked field becomes plain text.

Although Word has fields for CreateDate (the date the document was created),
SaveDate (when it was last saved), and PrintDate (last printed), there is no
field that permanently records the date the field was inserted.
