making an mde file

Using Access2002

After spending a lot of time making my database I guess it's time to unleash
it on other people. I have just split it; making an mde version of the front
end seemed like a good idea so that people can't change any of the code. So
I have converted my front end into 2002 format prior to making an mde.

When I try to use the Tools - Utilities - Make mde file, Access thinks for a
few seconds then gives the error "Microsoft Access was unable to create an
MDE database". Have I missed something really obvious?

thanks

Alice,

Make sure you convert your project to Access 2002. An
Access 2000 file format cannot be converted to a MDE file
in Access 2002.

Hi,
I'm not sure if this is revelant since I'm pretty much a beginner myself.
I think I figured out that first you convert the 2000 db to 2002 then make a
MDE then split.

I don' know if that's the only way but it seems to work for me.

Open a code module, and try to compile (Debug,Compile in A2K).
If you haven't already done that, you may find a compile error that
is preventing you from making an MDE.
