Making Auto Text Available to All Documents

P

Pete Kilbourne

I am using Word 98 with System 9.1 on a G3 Powerbook-400.
Recently, I spent several hours entering several Auto Text
items while working on a long document. They are not
available when I am working in other documents.

Please tell me how I can make them available to all
documents.

Greetings Pete,

AutoText can be stored in templates or documents. If you want the AutoText
Entries to be available for all new documents, save them to the Normal
Template. The AutoText Entries you created may be stored in the original
document in which you created them. You can use the Organizer to copy
AutoText Entries between documents and templates.

One way to access the Organizer is to go to the Format menu and select
Style. From there you can click on the Organizer button. From here, click on
the AutoText button, then click the two Close File buttons. Now, open the
document that you first created the AutoText Entries with the Open file
button. Also, click the other Open File button and open the Normal Template.
Once these files are open, select the AutoText Entries from the original
document, then click on the Copy button to copy them to the Normal Template.
Finish by closing the dialog box.
