Making Characters from Character Viewer More Easily Available

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel I'm writing a manual where I need to often use both the Place of Interest Sign that denotes the Command key, as well as the Upwards White Arrow that typically means the Shift key, and I'm getting those from the Character Viewer, thanks to information from this forum. I'm wondering, however, if there is a way to make those characters available more readily, so that I might insert them with specially designated keystroke combinations, as you can with the symbols in Word? I'm using them enough now that I'm leaving the Character Viewer open, but it takes up room on the screen that I'd like to have back.

And if there is a way to do that, is it possible to save the characters with certain characteristics? For instance, when I insert them into text, they enter at the same size as the text for the style of the paragraph, but I'd like them to automatically be inserted larger (14 pt rather than 11 pt).

Thanks in advance.

Make them into AutoText entries.

See the Word help topic "Have Word complete your typing" for more
information.

Cheers
