How do I convert a date field to a static date (word 2k) ?
I have some long term form letters that use date fields to grab
the latest date when I create them. However, after creation
I want to lock in the actual date that appeared (convert the
field code to non-updating) before doing a "save as". I do
not want the date to change in the saved document when I
open it next time (as an updating field, it currently does
change on open).
In the old days, I seem to recall that you could have an updating
field code or one that had to be manually updated by pressing an
F-key. That would be ideal for me - a field that I can update
by hitting a key when I create a new letter but that will not
update whenever I open the document. But, win Word2K there seems
to be only "update automatically" (which means _always_ update)
and "static".
Thanks,
