Making old Word version default

A

Andrew Dyall

Hi
I've just upgraded to a MacBook Pro. It came with a trial version of the
new Office suite which I've decided not to buy. The problem is that now the
default application for opening .doc files is the new version and I have to
individually change each file back to the old version Word:mac 10.0.0

How can I make the old version the default for all .doc files? There is an
option, when I change each file, to change all... But this does not work.
When I click it I then get a dialogue box saying Are you sure...yada yada...
And when I click continue, even that file goes back to the new version as
default application

Thanks in advance,

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

First: Repair disk permissions using the system's Disk Utility
(Applications>Utilities). You should always do this after removing or
installing new software.

Now try to Change All again. If it still doesn't work, post back.

Hi Andrew:

Eeeewww.... I think I would go up, if I were you :)

I think you will get all manner of "issues" trying to run Word 10.0.0 on a
MacIntel.

I am sure you can get away with it if you have a high tolerance for pain.
But the lack of Unicode support and lack of long file names will raise the
pain level quite "high" :)

Cheers
