Hi robo;
In Word 2004 the similar control is through the Formatting Palette of the
Toolbox. In the Styles group there's a list from which you can select All
Styles or Styles in Use. It sounds like you may have already found that
list, though.
Only certain built-in styles are included in the default Styles in Use
listing plus any custom styles stored in the template on which a do is
based. Any additional styles used in a specific doc are added automatically
also. However, the Customize... dialog option isn't available in Mac Word.
As a suggestion, the more practical procedure is to not dump all your styles
into Normal in the first place. If you have a number of styles it's most
likely because certain ones are appropriate for certain docs & not for
others. It's far more practical & far less risky to create separate
templates for each type of document & store the styles needed for that type
of document in that template.
Storing all styles in Normal can make it more likely to corrupt & if it does
you may not be able to recover your styles [insert reminder to back up
Normal here]. You also don't need to take the time to pick & choose in each
new doc you create - the styles needed for that type of doc are there & the
list isn't cluttered with every style you have for other types of docs.

Hello,
I have added new styles to our normal.dot but I don't want them all to "be
visible". By visible I mean not showing them in "Styles in Use" but only
wanting them in "All Styles"
On the PC you can customize this through the Styles and Formatting task pane
but I don't see anyway to do this on the Mac in Office 2004.
Please help.
Thanks
