making the borders of two curved shapes the same

I have two curved lines. Say I want line a to be the "master" and I want
line b to but right up against line a. How do I do this? I tried dragging
the control points, but there don't seem to be enough. Surely there must be
a way to to this automatically.

You may be able to get the results you want with Align Shapes. Select both
lines and then choose Align Shapes from the Shape menu.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for responding. Align shapes does not do what I want. I want to
have a second line take on the shape of the first line that it is next to. I
sort of want it to snap to the lenghth of the segment of the line.

OK, I think I understand now. Try Shape > Operations > Offset.
