making top row (or table) stationary

J

JohnE

I am relatively new to InfoPath 2007 so be kind. I am wondering if it is
possible to make a row stationary while scrolling down the table. For those
of you familiar with Excel, it would be similar to the freezing the top row.
Or is it possible to do between 2 tables? Or any other way of doing it. If
so, how would it be done.
Thanks to anyone who responds.

You can use a trick to accomplish this.

Insert the table in above your current one. On the top one set conditional
formatting so that if rowId does not equal 1 = Hide.
The top repeating tabel will then only show the first row.

You could then hide the first row from your scrolling table. You may also
want to remove the header from one or the insert ability.

Sounds like a good trick. I inserted another table (one row, seven columns)
above the scrolling one but when I go to the conditional formatting it is
dimmed out.

I had assumed you were using a repeating table.
If not there would be no need for the conditional formating.
The conditional formatting is under the display tab, I am not sure why it
would be greyed out.

Yah other than putting somethign at the top of the scrolling regioin there is
no way i no of to keep a row frozen at the top of a scrolling region nor is
there any header functionality. you would need to just create your own header
or row directly above it to simulate.

Clay, I changed the table to a repeater and took away the ability for the
user to add any further rows. Will go thru the rest of your instructions as
the cond formt is now available. Will give it a try now and will post back
the results.
Thanks.

Not getting it to work. Thanks for your time and thoughts on this. Might
try it again some other time but need to keep working on the completion of
the form.
Thanks again.
