Making Word my Defrault printer for Web stuff

When I download (or whatever) a word file from the Internet I simply
get a "send file" icon of the article or whatever on my desktop. I
then double click it and then Word opens. It used to be that Word
automatically opened the file once i had downloaded it. How do I get
back to that happy state????
