Manage Identities Outlook 2000 is missing from File Menu etc.

Hi
I am just starting to use Outlook for the first time. I'v always used OE
(currently 6.x) but I bought Office 2K, so I thought I'd give this a try.

Right away I have some issues that I need help with.

* Almost right away, when I clicked on the Outlook icon in Quick Launch,
Outlook started to come up, but then locked up. I couldn't shut it down
normally, but had to either force a shut down of the system, or use the Task
Manager. It has done this a number of times and each time it acts the same;
just locks up.
At that point then, it would send an error message to Microsoft, and when
I checked on the details, all it would say was there was no longer support
for this version and issue, and the only solution is to upgrade to Office
2003. Is nthis true?
I did install the updates SP3, and all listed security updates, and it
hasn't done it since then, but I have only invoked it a few times.

* In OE, there is a feature that auto-completes the addresses when you start
typing them. I can't seem to find anyplace to configure this in Outlook. Is
there such a feature?

* I need to set up multiple identities, but the File menu does not contain
either Identities, or Manage Identities.

* In typical home use, would I be better off letting Outlook stay active,
but dimished ni the taskbar, or should I get an e-mail notification utility
such as e-Prompter?

Well, that's about it for now.

I will sure appreciate any help with these things.

Thank you.

Clayton

None of your questions can be answered because there is not enough
information. Let us assume for now that your startup issues are solved. You
have obviously been running Outlook long enough to have found other
questions, the answers to which require that we know what mail support mode
of Outlook 2000 you are using. Outlook 2000 existed as 2 completely separate
programs and is indeed long out of support, but that doesn't mean you can't
use it. So look at line 2 of Help | About and tell us which mode of Outlook
2000 you are using. Only 2 possible answers will be accepted: Internet Mail
Only or Corporate/Workgroup. It would be interesting to know what you were
trying to accomplish by purchasing software so outdated.

Adding a little to Russ' reply:

Outlook 2000 doesn't have an Auto Complete, it has a Name Resolution
feature:

OL2000: How to Use the Name Resolution Feature Instead of AutoComplete

No version of Outlook has Outlook Express "Identities", Outlook uses
"Profiles" instead:

As Russ stated, for anything more specific, we need to know what mode
Outlook 2000 is set for, "Internet Mail Only" or "Corporate or Workgroup"
