manage links to excel

Hi,
I have a ten folders containing a 45 page Word files with many many tables
copied and pasted as links into the Word document from its corresponding
Excel sheet.

Problem 1:
I need to update all the links but the Edit>Links window isn't big enough
for me to see all the info and I have to go into each and every link an
update it. Is there another quick way for me to manage these links?

Problem 2: the pasted link (to its corresponding excel sheet) is the full
path of my network drive so is there any way to tell Word to look into the
folder it is in and use the excel file called data.xls?

Problem 3: when ever the data in the excel sheet gets updated and the word
document goes to update the links it changes the size of the pasted table.
This totaly throghs off the formatting of the entire document. Is there a
way to tell work to update the link but keep the size of the tables the same?

Thanks,

Which version of Office are we dealing with?

No. The LINK field that maintains OLE links requires the full path. Sometimes,
you can "wiggle around" by creating a custom document property to carry the
full path information. Replace the path in the LINK field with a DocProperty
field. Then all you need to do is change the path in one place, for the entire
document. How reliably this works depends a lot on the version of Office...
Problem 3: when ever the data in the excel sheet gets updated and the word

Are these objects formatted inline with the text, or with text wrapping?

HI Cindy,
Problem 1:
The version of MS Word is 2002 with SP3. If the list is barried somewhere
in the document and then at least I can go there and manage them. That Link
window isn't good if you have a lot of links with a long path.

Problem 2:
How do I create a document property and tell the link to reference that for
the path? in your experience how reliable with this work with my version of
Word - 2002 with SP3?

Problem 3:
In the layout of object which is a pasted link while selecting the Microsoft
Excel Workshet Object Option. I've tried various combination of the options
and when the data in the excel sheet changes the size of the table changes.

Thanks,
