"manage project documents" not responding

Using the Project view within PWA, when we attempt to access "manage project
documents", we receive the following message:

The documents, risks and issues features in Project Web Access use Windows
SharePoint Services.
There is a problem establishing a connection with the Web server running
Windows SharePoint Services. Contact your system administrator.

I am suspicious that a Microsoft security update has caused a problem.

Any advice would help a great deal.

Is SharePoint running ?

Can you browse the project WSS sites via the SharePoint URL ?

Project Server communicates with SharePoint using SOAP via a COM Component.
Make sure the security account used in the COM Component is a member of the
SharePoint Admin Group. Also make sure the security account is not
disabled/expired or has had its password changed.

To update the COM Component, run the PSCOMPLUS utility on the Project Server.
