"Manage Project" task

Hi All,

Is there a recommended method for including some kind of "Manage
Project" task in the plan?

I want to be able to capture the hours I spend on managing my project.
I have added a task at the top of the plan and named it "Manage
Project". I want this task to ALWAYS show in My Tasks page so I can
report the hours (if any) I spent on managing the project on every
day.
This task should start on project start date and finish on project
finish day (I can not link two tasks with two dependencies - SS AND
FF). Also, My project finish date is changing every now and then, so I
can not use MUST FINISH ON as well, and even if I did, I also want a
MUST START ON for project start date, but two constraints are not
possible..

I don't want this task to influence my schedule at all, just to stay
parallel to it at all times..
I need these hours of managing the project for future reports of what
percent of project hours are management time..

Any thoughts?

Thank you in advance.

You could use a hammock task for this purpose. Link the hammock between a
milestone that indicates the start of the project and a final milestone that
indicates the finish of the entire project. Refer to the following FAQ for
the steps:

http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm#Hammock Tasks

After creating the hammock task, select the task and then click Window -
Split. In the lower pane, select yourself as the resource and set the Units
value to approximate the percentage of an average day or week that you will
work on this task, where 50% indicates about half-time work, for example.
Hope this helps.
