Managed Periods in Project 2003

Aasif

I just migrated our Project Server from 2002 to 2003.
I am trying the Managed Period feature in PWA.

Once i set the managed periods and set the past periods as closed and then
open any existing projects in Project Professional I get an error message
saying
"Your Project Server's tracking setting was changed since you last saved
this project.
To prevent the potential loss of actuals in project, you should avoid saving
this project to Project server.
Contact your server administrator to update Project Server with the actuals
recorded in your project."

My question is how do I handle this? I have a lot of projects and there are
Actuals reported against these projects.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Managed periods are delicate to use, even with SP1 Server and pro as it
forbid direct update from Project Pro without a synch that does not seems to
work perfectly in all cases. Here the issue is that you used formely in your
project the non managed period tracking option, and you did migrate and
changed the options to managed periods. To handle that, go back to the admin
in PWA, set the tracking options at the same choice as of Proj 2002 Server
(non managed periods). This is my advise.
Is you like stress and difficulties, then up to you to change afterwards
the option with managed periods, then try to republish assignments from
Project with erasing actuals from ressource, before saving. Do not close any
period.
I did not test. This is just my opinion.
